adagio for strings

Earlier even than the “Tiesto-Version” came in 1999 “William Orbit – Barber’s Adagio for Strings (Ferry Corsten Remix)” out and since then sways back and forth discussion, which of these two titles would probably be the better. Based on the play by William Orbit for Violins, Adagio for Strings is a piece of classical music for string orchestra, composed by Samuel Barber in 1938.

It is an arrangement of the second movement of his String Quartet String Quartet op. 11 from the year 1936. The premiere took place on 5. November 1938 under Arturo Toscanini with the NBC Symphony Orchestra in New York. 1967 Barber created a version for eight-part choir, Agnus Dei, as setting of the Agnus Dei.

The work is regarded as Samuel Barber's most popular composition. In The Year 2004 Adagio for Strings was chosen by the listeners of the BBC as "the saddest classical piece". Barber itself, however, found no pleasure in it, that the Adagio in his popularity put his further compositional work in the shadows.

So, now that was enough history lesson, it is supposed to go to the interpretation of Tiesto!

So here you will find the audio sample – also looked at these times on the version of Ferry Corsten, on one leg can not stand yes.
